11th - 20th May 2006 Eifel Tour… Germany
The first of our continental tours was a great occasion, with, on conclusion, particpants exchanging 'phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Marred only by Sue headbutting a car at 60mph on our way through Belgium to Germany. Sue survived quite well (broken wrist) the 'bike (and car!) less fortunate. "How lucky?"
Twelve people, Sea France Dover to Calais, a night in Saint Omer, France, and then rid
ing through the Belgium Ardnennes to the Eifel Mountains of Germany, to our favourite... Hotel Forsthaus at Riedener Mühlen. A bell foundry in the middle of nowhere, hawks and eagles flying to their handlers and making the kids scream with delight/fear as the birds of prey parted their hair! Dry bob sled runs (kids eh!) A few laps of der Nürburgring, great scenery, superb biking roads, good weather, wonderful food, wine and bier... and good friends. But we'll not even mention the Go Kart track where any friendship and sportsmanship went out of the window!
You'll need to book early for next year!
