While struggling through the Gobi Desert on their Long Way Home trip Mick patted his trusty F650GS-Dakar and promised it that if it got him home safely then he would treat her to a new coat.  It did... so he has.

2004 Dakar 44,000 milesThe Dakar has now done 43,000 miles and is running as well as ever.  Although Mick did buy a BMW R1200GS-Adventure, and covered 14,500 miles on it in four months, he still loves his Dakar, so the 1200 went, for in reality it didn't do anything that the 650 couldn't do, except perhaps cruise two up at 100mph (German Autobahn of course!)  Being totally honest the 1200GS-A was just a tad too big!

So his Dakar has had a coat of paint, new graphics, 19" front wheel for normal road use, and a set of Touratech twin headlights fitted with a Xenon main beam.  Mick aquired a spare rear wheel and keeps Continental TKC's on the 21" standard front rim and the spare rear rim... Metzeler Tourance on the 19" front rim and rear wheel.  The picture (home page) shows Mick in the local quarry doing a bit of 'off roading' ... again!

F800ST

To keep some mileage off his 650, for another 'Long Way Home' trip is envisaged, Mick has bought the ex demo F800ST from Rainbow Motorcycles. Mick says... "It has a magnificent engine with as much power as the 1150GS's but with the weight of a 650, and handles great, so light and flickable.  I just can't wait for the F800GS when it comes out... now THAT will be a 'bike"
