"Now nudging uphill to sixty we are making the trip of a lifetime - before the 'zimmer frame' becomes reality.  To visit the last land of 'no fences'.... Mongolia.  To meet people, catch a way of life, go beyond our 'comfort zone', our own known limits... and make a dream become reality."

'The
Long Way Home I'
The story & review

With updates on how equipment stood up to the rigours of the journey, information on what not to take and what we wished we had taken! Also facts and figures and help and advice on documentation etc for all those border crossings!

Though the Long Way Home  is now in the past please keep visiting this site to learn of future tours and weekend breaks that Mick will be organising.

"The site that motorcycle
travellers trust."

OK, but I want to know where the brake is first!

March 24th 2005 they set off to ride through Germany into Poland, exploring the Masurian Lakes National Park on their way.  Down to Brest and into Belarus, through Russia, Kazakhstan and into Mongolia where they will spend some time with families in the Ger camps. Exploring the Gobi Desert, fossilised dinosaur remains and beautiful scenery are foremost on the agenda.

Though following in the footsteps of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, Mick and Sue will not be as hurried, their itinerary will give them time to get to know the people more, to explore.

After an abortive entry into China they then turned west, following the old silk road, to Kashgar, over the Torugart Pass into Kyrgyzstan, then Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, over the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, Georgia and then Turkey… returning ‘The Long Way Home’
